Equipment Checklist

Seven more weeks to go before our MK climb, and it's high time I share this equipment checklist with you guys, as I firmly believe that anyone who leaves the climbing essentials at home might as well die being raped by mountain baboons.

The following gearcheck is not exhaustive, will update if there's any new shit.

· Headlamp (keep hands free while trekking)
· Windproof rainwear (rain & wind protection)
· Balaclava/beanies eg ski mask (warmth essential)
· Mittens or gloves (warmth essential)
· Sweater (warmth essential)
· Warm trousers (warmth essential)
· Lightweight inner socks for trek to Laban Rata
· Thicker socks for climb to summit (blisters prevention)
· Well broken-in sturdy boots (prevent `jamming’ of toes in toe box)
· Water bottles with belt (especially for summit day)
· Snacks / Powerbars / Raisins (especially for summit day)
· Change of clothing (change into dry clothes upon arrival at Laban Rata)
· Towel (thin for quick drying - keep load light)
· Trash bags or large Ziploc (keep all items dry)
· Personal first aid kit & own medication (I'm not sharing my charcoal pills, haha!)
· Walking stick (recommended - click here for picture)
· Whistle (useful tool for attracting attention and signalling others)
· Extra Batteries for torchlight, candles and matches
· Swim Gear (hot spring, Manukan, Padas)
· Straps for your glasses (for Padas rafting)
· Slippers (walk in hut)
